Bitumen Emulsion SS-1 Description
Anionic Bitumen Emulsion SS-1 is a slow-setting bitumen with a negative charge. When an anionic emulsion is mixed with a Cationic emulsion, a strong bond develops, and the result is the changing of the substance to a solid. This result is not ideal to be used as a coating because it cannot be applied to substrates.
Application
The application of an anionic emulsion, Bitumen SS1, involves two phases—water and asphalt—that naturally resist mixing. The initial interphase occurs within the outer phase. The emulsion’s particle size ranges from 0.1 to 5 microns. Under normal conditions, without an emulsifier, the two parts of emulsion SS1 become unstable and segregate rapidly.
To address this, an emulsifier is introduced into water and bitumen, containing alkaline salt and Ammonium Salt. The high flash point and the low solvent content make SS-1 an easy to use and a safe product. SS-1 can be applied by using a painting brush, squeegee, airless spray, and roller. This mixture undergoes processing in a high-speed mixer under ISO conditions, ensuring bitumen production aligns with industry standards.
Properties of Bitumen Emulsion SS-1
This type of emulsion contains a fine dispersion of bitumen particles in water stabilized by emulsifying agents, ensuring easy application at ambient temperatures.
